Died. In Humboldt, Iowa, Sunday, July 22, of inflammation of the bowels, John J. Clemens, aged 36 years.
The deceased was a resident of Johnson City, Kan., where he was engaged in business with his brother Albert and while enroute to his old home here was taken sick and all medical skill possible to procure, failed to arrest the disease and restore him to family and loved ones. The Mother and brother, summoned to the bedside of the dying, returned Tuesday with the remains and wife and little one arriving at the sorrowing home on Tuesday. On Wednesday the funeral was held at the family home, Rev. Marshall officiating. The remains were conducted to the cemetery where they were laid to rest by the members of A.O.U.W. assisted by the members of the Odd Fellows of the city.
Mr. Clemens was raised in McGregor where he was always held in high esteem, his neighbors attesting their admiration for him by electing him at one time to a position in the city council where he acquitted himself in a credible manner. The sorrowing family who mourn, have the sincerest sympathy of their many friends in their deep affection.
