Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Marlyn Neil "Doc" Henderson of Monona, Iowa, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa with Father Don Keppler and Father John Moran, con-celebrants. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery with arrangements by Schultz Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Larry Dawson, Roger Drahn, Neil Landt, Greg Mosier, Al Wagner, Marvin Brainard, and Jim Gerdes. Honorary bearers were Jim McNally, Glen Clark, Harvey Montour, Palmer Brownson, Vernon Glawe, Virgil Thompson, Merle Miller, and Duane Lamker.
Marlyn Neil "Doc" Henderson, son of Clarence and Jessie (Stafford) Henderson, was born August 23, 1924 in Monona, Iowa. He graduated from Monona High School in 1942. On April 27, 1948 Doc married Catherine White at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. They owned and operated the Corner Tap & Cafe in Monona, Iowa for 39 years.
Marlyn Neil Henderson died Sunday, May 9, 1999 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Scotty Henderson, Leon Henderson, and Harold Henderson and two sisters, Thelma Bentien and Frances Engelhardt.
Maryln is survived by his wife Catherine; 4 sons, Robert Henderson of Marion, Iowa, Rick (Sandy) Henderson of Fairbank, Iowa, Ronald Henderson of Conyers, Georgia, and Robyn (Connie) Henderson of Monona, Iowa; 2 daughters, Liane (Larry) Thompson and Lori (Jeff) House, all of Monona, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mayme Landt of Luana, Iowa and Gretchen Wiethorn of Monona, Iowa.
