Funeral services for Arthur Clarion Helgerson, age 91, were held Thursday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the East Clermont Lutheran Church with Rev. Helen Beth Kuhens officiating. Casket bearers were Karl Klemp, Jason Klemp, George Madlon, Cody McIntosh, Julian Dave, Ralph Kneeland, Kenneth Stewart, and Brad Bucknell. Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Arthur Clarion Helgerson, son of Ansten N. and Clara (Kittelson) Helgerson, was born October 24, 1911 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa near Postville. He was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member. Art attended the Grand Meadow Township School No. 4. On November 25, 1937 Art and Anna Esther Houg were married at the home of her parents. To this union were born 4 children. They farmed in Clayton County until 1971 when they moved to Clermont, Iowa. Art was employed as a Security Guard at the Canning Factory in Elgin, Iowa. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards. Art was active in both his church and community, serving on the Co-Op Board of Directors in Clermont, Iowa.

Arthur Clarion Helgerson died Saturday, August 16, 2003 in the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son David Helgerson who died in 1989.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Esther of West Union, Iowa; 3 daughters, Dorothy J. (Charles) Dunham of Montpelier, Virginia, Carol D. Madlon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Sharon A. Dave of Fishers, Indiana; 7 grandchildren, Susan Marmolejo, Kim McIntosh, George Madlon, Julian Dave, Vanessa Dave, Adrian Dave, and Dawnell Baise; 9 great-grandchildren, Dominique, Kathryn, Mack, Brook, Cody, Aspen, Heaven, Montana, and Skylar; and a sister, Irene Frieden of Clermont, Iowa.
