Robert L. Hilleshiem, age 70, died Saturday, June 2, 1990 at his home in Lakeland, Florida. Arrangements were by Heath Funeral Chapel of Lakeland, Florida.

Robert was born March 29, 1920 in Kellogg, Minnesota to Ollie and Velma (Thias) Hilleshiem. His family lived in the Allamakee County and Clayton County area. On June 21, 1941, he married Arlene Melcher of Monona, Iowa. They lived in Marion, Iowa before moving to Lakeland, Florida 32 years ago. He was a maintenance mechanic with Farmland Industries and a member of the Lakewood Park United Methodist Church.

Robert Hilleshiem was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Arlene who died September 10, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie H. Nielson of Lakeland, Florida, 2 sons, Wade Hilleshiem of Lakeland, Florida and Jeffrey Hilleshiem of Winter Haven, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and a sister, Vera Simmons of Aurora, Illinois.

NOTE: There are Hilleshiem and Thias relatives living in Allamakee County. Robert's wife, Arlene Hilleshiem, was born July 18, 1920 in Monona, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Effie (Leas) Melcher. There are still many Leas and Melcher relatives living in the Clayton and Allamakee County areas.
