Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Harold Herbert Breitsprecher, age 91, of Hazleton, Iowa were held Wednesday, May 27, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton, Iowa with inurnment at a later date in the Farmersburg, Iowa Wagner Cemetery. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.
Harold Herbert Breitsprecher, son of Louis and Alice (Strein) Breitsprecher, was born June 8, 1919 in rural Luana, Iowa. He attended Clayton County rural schools and was a farmer and horse trader with his father. He married Dorothy A. Murdock. He continued to farm and worked at an implement dealership in Waukon, Iowa for Boss John Deere in New Hampton for several years, and at Hub City John Deere Implement in Oelwein, Iowa, retiring in 1981. He continued working part time for Hazleton Auto Auction for many years. After Dorothy died he married Helen Louise (Nichols) Anderman on July 3, 1968 at First Presbyterian Church at Hazleton, Iowa, where he was a member.
Harold H. Breitsprecher died Friday May 20, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dorothy, who died October 30, 1966, a daughter Melodye Willford, and a son-in-law, Ben Lillibridge.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Lou (Kurt) Cosselman of Oelwein, Iowa, Jane Lillibridge of Jesup, Iowa and Sue (Loren) Corcoran of Albia, Iowa; son-in-law Dave Willford of Dubuque, Iowa; and 2 step-sons, Cal "Bud" (Carol Zingg) Anderman of Hiawatha, Iowa and Clyde "Butch" (Debbie Mayer) of Huntsville, Alabama; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Breitsprecher of Farmersburg, Iowa and Lloyd (Ilaverne) Breitsprecher of Merrill, Wisconsin.
