Funeral services for Eugene George Baade, age 84, of Monona, Iowa were held Monday, August 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Scott Duffus officiated. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Church cemetery in Monona. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene George Baade, son of George and Marie (Hupfer) Baade, was born on April 16, 1927 in rural Monona, Iowa. He graduated from the Monona High School in 1944, where he was the senior class president. Eugene was united in marriage to Marilyn Krambeer on August 31, 1951 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. They became the parents of four children. Eugene worked as a farmer and carpenter for many years. He helped build new homes, outbuildings, and remodeled many homes in the area. He was very active in the community, even as a youth. He attended Boys State. He was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was part of the council and brotherhood. He was also a member of the Clayton County ASCS Committee and rural Monona Fire Board. He served as the Giard Township Clerk and Giard Township Assessor.

Eugene died August 12, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Verda Mae Lamker and a son-in-law, Jerry Knockel.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Baade of Monona, Iowa; 4 children, Steven Baade, Debra(Mike) Walz, Linda Knockel, all of Monona, Iowa, and Mary Ann (Marcus) Behnken of Cascade, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Jacob (Betsy) Walz, Jared (Chelsea) Walz, Jeffrey (Melinda) Walz, Jonathan (Alicia) Walz, Lesley Walz, Kristina Walz, Miranda Walz, Monica (Tony Hagensick) Knockel, Jessica (Jeff) Werger, Luke Knockel, and Kaitlyn Behnken; 9 great-grandchildren, Porter Walz, Peyton Walz, Paxton Walz, Gracie Walz, Greyson Walz, Zoe Walz, Miley Walz, Merrick Johanningmeier, Maiah Johanningmeier; a brother Doug (Julie) Baade of Monona, Iowa; and extended family, Judy (Jim) Walter of Luana, Iowa, Luverne (Jeanette) Krambeer, and Duane (Marilyn) Lamker, all of Monona, Iowa.
