The sad news reached our community that on Sunday, Oct. 2nd, at his home in Duluth, Minn., Hugo Engehardt, son of Mrs. Chas. Engelhardt, near St. Olaf, had been called home after a lingering illness.

He was born in Wagner township on the 9th day of June 1887. Was baptized by Father Seffert at Clayton Center, Aug. 14, 1887, and confirmed in the Church of his Saviour March 23, 1902, by Rev. F. Braun at Farmersburg.

On the 6th day of May, 1910, he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Miss Mabel Looby. Their union was blessed with one child, the daughter Bernice. They lived together at Leads, S.D., for two years; after that they farmed on the home farm for four years, when they moved to Mendon township and from there to Duluth, Minn.

Last spring Hugo was taken sick with heart disease and never recovered, and early in the morning of October 2nd he was released from all earthly suffering.

His remains were brought back to St. Olaf and laid to rest in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery on Wednesday, October 5th, Rev. Dr. Braun of the Lutheran church officiating. He reached the age of 35 years, 3 months and 23 days. He leaves beside his young wife and daughter, his mother, Wilhelmina Engelhardt; five brothers - George, Charles, Otto, Fred and Ray; two sisters - Mrs. Bertha Buck of Calmar and Mrs. Pearl Nelson of Colorado.

The scriptural text for the funeral sermon was "The last enemy which must be destroyed is death."
