Funeral services for Irene B. Pederson, age 81, of Marquette, Iowa were held Saturday, July 24, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home of McGregor, Iowa was in charge of services.

Irene, daughter of Alonzo M. "Lon" and Mattie (Fett) Burlingame, was born April 17, 1918 at Froelich, Iowa. She attended Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. She taught elementary school in the Marquette-McGregor School District for 36 years. She married George "Pete" Pederson on July 16, 1938. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a gracious lady who loved her family with quiet support and encouragement. She was a devoted member of her church, a voracious reader, and an avid aficionado of crossword puzzles.

Irene B. Pederson died Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her four children, Patti (Patrick) Donlon of Davis, California, Jack (Bonnie) Pederson of Prescott, Wisconsin, Darci (Alan) Wirkler of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Deidre (Michael) Vick-Froehlich of Marquette, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
