Elkader - William Donlon, 90, prominent and highly respected pioneer farmer living near Elkader in Highland township, passed away at his farm home seven miles northwest of Elkader Monday morning, Dec. 11, after a long illness.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader, with Right. Rev. Monsignor B.H. Skahill, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Donlon was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Donlon, prominent early pioneers of Clatyon county and closely identified with the early history of Highland township. He was born in Massachusetts on Dec. 5, 1860, and came to Clayton county at the age of 5 years. He had lived in Highland township ever since.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. T.E. Borland of Elkader and Miss Margaret; also a son, William, on the home farm. He is also survived by three brothers, Rev. Luke Donlon of Monona; Brother Malleck Donlon of the Dominican Order at Louisville, Ky., Dr. J.P. Donlon of Elkader; and two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Foran of North Oxford, Mass., and Mrs. Mary Hoover of Elkader.
