Funeral services for Amanda Baade of Postville, Iowa, formerly of Monona, Iowa, were held Friday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Pastor Gene Gramer officiated. Burial was in the Monona Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Davis, Nick Baade, Mike Sass, Josh Baade, and Clay Fritz. Active pallbearers were Harold Davis, Randy Fritz, Mark Baade, Ron Sass, and Steve Griffith. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Amanda, daughter of Fred and Dora (Boller) Klingeman, was born March 26, 1893 near Monona, Iowa. She was baptized June 18, 1893 by Rev. Seifert in Farmersburg, Iowa and confirmed April 8, 1906 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa by Rev. Wappler. She received her education in Pleasant Hill Country School. On March 12, 1913, Amanda was united in marriage to Henry Baade at Spring Valley, Minnesota. The couple farmed at Amanda's home farm in Monona Township, Clayton County, Iowa until 1949. Henry died in 1948 and in 1949 Amanda moved into Monona. She was a great cook and took pride in making pies, cookies, and chicken soup.

Amanda died Tuesday, January 29, 1991 at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville, Iowa where she had been a resident. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Henry, who died June 8, 1948, a son Theodore Baade; a granddaughter, Jane Baade, a great-grandson, Jeremiah Baade; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Surviving Amanda is one son and his wife, J. Starr Baade of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren, Joy Davis, Susan Griffith, Mark Baade, Ann Fritz, and Glee Sass; 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Ella Hess.
