Funeral services for Kermit H. Klinge were held Tuesday, November 19 at the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Organist was Ric Benzing. Special music was provided by soloists, Don Sabbann and Bob Sabbann, who are his nephews, and a quartet of Kendall Benzing, John Wachter, Harlan Hass, and Jackson Turner. Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Schultz, Don Wirkler, Oscar Erickson, Adrian Huinker, Elmer Radloff, Lester Lang, Jim Burger, and Burton Schlein. Casket bearers were Tom Schmidt, Bob Meyer, Jeff Alderson, Dick Wold, Mark Wold, Stan Bernhard, Steve Bernhard, and Russ Bernhard. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Kermit H. Klinge was born August 18, 1909 near Farmersburg, Iowa to parents Fred and Bertha (Palas) Klinge. He graduated from Monona High School in 1927. On August 16, 1932 Kermit was united in marriage to Ethel Bernhard at the Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa. *Her obituary stated the year was 1934* To this union two sons were born. Kermit operated the Monona Locker in Monona for 30 years. He served as Clayton County Supervisor for 10 years, Monona Fire Chief and Mayor of Monona for 8 years.

Kermit died Friday, November 15, 1991 at the Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona Kiwanis Club, and the Brotherly Love Masonic Lodge #201. Preceding him in death were his parents; 4 sisters, Hilma Sabbann, Rita McGonigle, Irma Denning, and Linda Klinge; and 3 brothers, Harvey Klinge, Arno Klinge, and Arthur Klinge.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel; 2 sons, Gene (Pat) Klinge of Maynard, Iowa and James (Ann) Klinge of Iron River, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren, Kathy (Scott) Friauf, Vicki Klinge, Kevin Klinge, Karen Klinge, and Amy Klinge and Peggy (Scott) Hipsher; 2 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alexandria Friauf; and 1 sister, Ruby McCreath of California.
