Christianson, Elmer O. 1915-1991

Elmer O. Christianson, age 75, of Pontiac, Illinois died on July 30, 1991 at Memorial Medical Center at Springfield, Illinois. Services were held on Friday at Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home in Pontiac with the Rev. Craig Wagner of First Lutheran Church officiating.

Elmer was born November 11, 1915 in Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mathilda (Halverson) Christianson. He was educated in the rural Clayton County schools. Elmer married Shirley Rippey on November 28, 1942 at St. Olaf, Iowa. Shirley passed away suddenly on January 27, 1991. Elmer was an Army veteran and was discharged in 1944. As a young man he farmed for several years in Iowa before moving to Pontiac in 1951. He was employed by Ocoya Stone Company near Pontiac for over 20 years before retiring from Local 179. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Pontiac, Illinois.

In addition to his wife, Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Genievea (Mrs. Raymond) Lantz; one grandson and one granddaughter.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Christianson and Roger Christianson, both of Pontiac, Illinois and Richard Christianson of Morena Valley, California; 2 daughters, Judy Black and Anita Lord of Pontiac, Illinois; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 4 brothers, Bill Christianson of Monona, Iowa, Clifford Christianson of Farmersburg, Iowa, Charles Christianson of Gowrie, Iowa, and Henry Christianson, Jr. of Elgin, Iowa; 6 sisters, Hazel (Louis) Kjosa of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Agnes (Merle) Gregerson of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Marjorie (Merlin) Martie of Postville, Iowa, DeLoris (Fred) Waalk of Cabot, Arkansas, Betty (Bob) Kurdelmeyer of Monona, Iowa, and Velma (Bernell) Larson of Clinton, Iowa.
