She taught at a country school known as Suttle Creek. She also did substitute teaching. She left the teaching profession to become a wife. On November 18, 1925 she became the bride of Earl Allert of rural Monona, Iowa. They resided on the Allert farm north of Monona, Iowa. In 1977 they bought a home in Monona, Iowa and retired there.
