Funeral services were held Sunday, February 22 for Irma E. Kurth who died Thursday, February 19, 1998 at the Prairie Health Care Center in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The 2 p.m. services were conducted by Pastor Bruce Hanson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. Burial was in the Monona, Iowa Cemetery with arrangements by Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa. Casket bearers were Randy Kurth, Jeremy Kurth, Paul Christianson, Jerry Christianson, Scott Wright, and Tim Wright.

Irma was born September 15, 1921 at Froelich, Iowa to Harry and Orpha (Lenth) Kuthe. Irma graduated from Monona High School. On June 22, 1945 she married Vernon Kurth at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Irma taught rural schools in the Monona and Farmersburg areas.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Vernon died April 12, 1994.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Karel (Larry) Giese of Albany, Georgia, Rita Kurth and Marla Kurth, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 3 grandchildren; and one sister, Leona (Calvin) Kurth of Monona, Iowa.
