Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Floyd Edward Dittmer were held Thursday, February 21, 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, Iowa. Rev. Lance A. Bentley officiated. Interment was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, in Elkader, Iowa. Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Melvin Scott, John O'Brien, Jon Elvers, Glenn Radloff, Jack Dittmer, and John Farmer.
Floyd Edward Dittmer, son of Herman and Clara (Meder) Dittmer, was born April 27, 1899 near Strawberry Point, Iowa. He attended Clayton County rural schools and later Elkader High School. He married Catherine Downey June 22, 1933. Together they farmed the family farm which became a Century Farm in 1963. Catherine died May 18, 1981. Floyd remained on the farm until entering the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point in 1987. After a lengthy illness, he died Monday evening, February 18, 1991. He served on the Clayton County committee of the Federal Farm Program (ASCS) from 1941 to 1956; the Clayton County Board of Supervisors from 1956 through 1958. He served on the Board of Directors of the Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative from 1964 to 1967. He was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Catherine, a brother, Arthur Dittmer and a sister, Irene McTaggart.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Strawberry Point-- Floyd E. Dittmer, 91, died Monday evening in the Lutheran Home. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader. Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Elkader. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 tonight.
There are no immediate survivors.
