HANSON, OLSON, MEYER, CHAPMAN

Henry William Hanson was born at the old home place near Elgin, Iowa, March 28, 1903, and died April 11, at the Postville hospital, his age being twenty-four years and fourteen days at the time of his death. He has spent all his life at home where he assisted with the farm work. henry was the youngest son of Thos. Hanson. His mother passed away September 8, 1923.

July 12, 1926, he was married to Adelia Olson of Elgin, at the Little Brown Church. They went to housekeeping at his father's home, but September 8, he was stricken with an infection in his leg. He was taken to the McGregor hospital first where he underwent two operations. Then he ws taken to his home and when he grew worse he was taken to Rochester where he underwent another operation. He again returned home and was at home for about a month when he suddenly grew worse and was taken to the Postville hospital.

Henry is survived by his young son [name illegible, newsprint is smeared, ends with "ow"], his father, Thos Hanson, five brothers, Adolph, Martin and Theodore all of Elgin, and Fred and Edwin at home, three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Meyer of West Union, Mrs. Martha Chapman of Elgin and Ellen, who has made her home at Quincy, Illinois since the first of the year.

Mr. Hanson was a patient sufferer with oste-o-myelitis for a period of seven months and practically all of this time was spent at different hospitals in the endeavor to get relief from his suffering. His young wife was with him all of this time and materially assisted the physicians and nurses in their fight against the disease. In all this time he was very patient and showed his appreciation for everything that was done in his behalf.

The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 14, first at the home of his brother, Theodore, at Elgin, and then at the Apostolic church. Burial was made at the Apostolic cemetery.
