Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Marvelyn Alice Grove died Thursday, December 26, 1996 at the Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, Iowa. Dr. Gary Dobbins officiated. Pallbearers were Burdette Wold, Robert Jacobson, Ray DeSotel, Tim Kruse, LaVerne Meyer, Delvin Schroeder, Adrian Huinker, and Oscar Erickson. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
Marvelyn was united in marriage to Roy J. Grove on December 25, 1930 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. She worked as a secretary for her husband in his many businesses and when he built four homes. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church where she belonged to Dorcas Circle. She was a member of the Woman's Club and sang in the church choirs. She loved plants and flowers.
Marvelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy who died in 1989, and 4 brothers, Charles Taylor, Elvin Trusty, Gordon Trusty, and Merrill Trusty.
She is survived by 1 son Dennis (Margaret) Grove of Monona, Iowa, 2 daughters, Jacquelyn (Alan) Butterfield of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Judith (Gaylord) Oelke of Monona, Iowa; 9 grandchildren: Diane (Ron) Caucutt, Sue (Jeff) Picard, Todd (JoAnn) Butterfield, Jamie (Sam) Wood, Janis (David) Schultz, Denise (Jack) Schroeder, Richard Grove, Julia Grove, and Chris (Jolene) Oelke; 21 great-grandchildren: Jordan and Caleb Schultz, Laura and Kyle Schroeder, Justin and Adam Grove, Alan, Michael, and Scott Butterfield, Nathan, Jeremy, Matthew, and Phillip Caucutt, Heather, Heidi, and Ryan Picard, Rebecca, Chris, Rachel, and Adam Wood, and Austin Oelke; 1 great-great grandchild, Nathan; 1 sister, Elaine Shriver of Maquoketa, Iowa; many nieces and nephews in addition to many other relatives and friends.
