Funeral Services Held For C. N. Hart
Charles N. Hart, former buttermaker and dairy and food inspector for the state of Iowa, died July 12, in the McGregor Community Hospital. He has been living there in the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Trygg, in recent years.
Funeral services were held July 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Pilkington funeral home with the Rev. W. O. Crosby in charge. Burial was in East Side cemetery in Elkader.
Charles Nelson Hart was born June 20, 1870 at Medina, Ohio, a son of James Henry and Polly Bracy Hart.
He was married on January 4, 1894 to Minnie Moyer of Elkader. Mrs. Hart died in 1928 in McGregor.
In 1890 Mr. Hart started in the buttermaking profession, which he followed until 1923. At that time he became dairy and food inspector for the state of Iowa.
He lived in McGregor for many years and was an active member of the Methodist church.
In 1932 he was married to Mrs. Olive Rowson of Fayette where he lived until the time of her death in 1945. Since that time he has made his home with his children.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. Ernest (Donna) Thein, West Union; E. L. Hart, Perry; J. F. Hart, Postville; Mrs. George (Marjorie) Trygg, McGregor, and Mrs. Stewart (Mildred) Hawk of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; also eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. J. L. Clark of Kanawha.
One son, Donald, preceded him in death in 1940.
