Dorothy M. Huff, age 72, of Monona, Iowa died on Friday, May 5, 2000 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery, rural Volney, Iowa. Casket bearers were Ken Kishman, Kurt Kishman, Scott Schutte, Shawn Luster, Wade Wolter, Jake Wolter, and Nick Huff. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of services.

Dorothy M. Huff was born February 23, 1928 in rural McGregor, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ruth (Carney) Seitz. She attended rural schools in the area and graduated from the Waukon High School in 1946. On June 30, 1947 she married Everett L. Huff in West Union, Iowa. Dorothy lived in this area her entire life with the last 35 years in Monona, Iowa. She worked at the Northern Engraving Company in Waukon for several years, before she went to work at the Iowa Turkey Product Plant in Postville, Iowa where she also worked for several years and retired from there.

Dorothy was very devoted to her family. They always came before anything else. She was honest and hardworking. Dorothy and Everett enjoyed working in their yard together, planting trees, flowers, and gardening. They were very fond of the wild flower garden they had in their front yard. The wild flowers were hand picked by Dorothy and Everett from area woods and brought home.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan Luster; 3 brothers, John Seitz, Donald Seitz, and Norman Seitz, and one sister, Fern Roffman.

Survivors include her husband, Everett of Monona, Iowa; 5 children, Diane(Harry) Schutte of Monona, Iowa, Melody (Brad) Kishman of Farmersburg, Iowa, Fred (Cheri) Huff of Monona, Iowa, Wendy (Harry) Luster of Geneseo, Illinois, and Courtney Huff of Monona, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Thies of Clermont, Iowa.
