Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Violet V. Knapp, age 97, of McGregor, Iowa died Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor following a short illness. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Violet was born March 13, 1903 to parents Ted and Alvina (Baltes) Kohn at Guttenberg, Iowa. She moved to the McGregor area as a child and attended country school. She married Archie Knapp on April 13, 1921 at Monona, Iowa. They farmed in the Marquette, Iowa area until their retirement when they moved to McGregor. Archie died in January of 1988.
She is survived by one son Donald (Lois) Knapp of Dubuque, Iowa; 2 daughters, Justine Sawvell and Vivian (Earl) Davies, both of McGregor; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and one sister, Clarice Knapp of McGregor, Iowa.

There is an error in the maiden name of Violet Verdell Kohls Knapp. It was KOHLS (not Kohn) and she was the daughter of Edwin (Ted) Elmer Kohls and Alvena (Baltes) Kohls.
