Laura Marianne Bahls Glawe was born the daughter of Albert and Bertha Behrens Bahls, July 31, 1911, on the family farm near Garnavillo. She died Thursday, October 30, 2003, at the Guttenberg Care Center.
Laura received her education locally; farmed with her family; worked for Guttenberg Egg Plant; Muters and Original Enders Co.; Garnavillo Post Office and cooked at Garnavillo schools and Kountry Manor for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, traveling and was a member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid.
On July 16, 1930, Laura was united in marriage with William F. Glawe Jr. in Garber.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Shirley (Nathan) Moser and Lois (Robert) Aulwes both of Guttenberg. Betty Lou (Lawrence) Kuehl of Edgewood, and Candace (DeWitt) Krapfl of Winthrop; two sons, Norbert Glawe of Elkport and Lyle (Darlene) Glawe of Garnavillo, three brothers, Alvin (Lovonne) Bahls of Garnavillo, Eldo (Violet) Bahls of Rockford, Illinois and Alfred Bahls of Guttenberg; one sister Marie Putzier of Guttenberg and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Bahls of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, twenty-eight grandchildren; seventy-one great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Loren, one grandson, Scott Moser, one great grandson, Jamie Weidner, one brother, Clarence Bahls and one sister-in-law, Darlene Bahls and one brother-in-law, Orville Putzier.
