Mrs. John Timmerman, 80, a resident of Postville since 1923, passed away Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Timmerman residence with the Rev. F.R. Ludwig officiating. burial was in the Postville cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold F. Eberling, Wilmer Nordin, Ed and Walter Lammert, Eldo Schultz and Chas. Warnholz.

As Miss Minnie Meyer she was born July 9, 1860, in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Meyer. She lived in Germany during her youth, obtaining an education in the schools of that country. In May 1883, when she was 23 years old, she came to the United States alone. For one year she worked in a home near Giard, doing house work, then on April 4, 1884, she was married to John Timmerman at Clayton Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Timmerman lived near Farmersburg for the first 12 years of their married life, then they purchased a farm east of Castalia. They lived on their property near Castalia until the spring of 1923 when they retired and moved to Postville. Mr. Timmerman passed away July 25, 1933.

Mrs. Timmerman is survived by two daughters and two sons: Alma Timmerman, with whom she made her home, Clara (Mrs. Burdell Sphar) of Castalia, and Will Timmerman of Castalia and Arno Timmerman, who is on the home place near Castalia. One sister, Marie preceded her in death. There are also five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Timmerman was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church for 40 years, always taking an active part in church activities.
