Florence Carpenter, age 95, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa with burial in Strawberry Point. Roberson Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Florence was born at home March 5, 1916, daughter of Ernest and Lizzie (Handel) Kellogg. She graduated from the Strawberry Point High School in 1934, then taught country school in Cox Creek and Lodomillo Townships for several years. On June 4, 1938, she married Arthur Carpenter at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. He died in January of 1988.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Kay (Douglas) Sage, Rita (LaVerne) Jones, and Wanda Batchelder and a son Ron (Deb Koch) Carpenter; 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
