Mrs. Herman Heins Rites Are Held
Funeral services were held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Schutte Funeral Home and 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Mrs. Herman Heins, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Harnack, about noon March 20.
The final rites were conducted by the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Mrs. Herman Heins (Mathilda Radloff) was born March 21, 1872 in Germany, the daughter of Fred Radloff and his wife Marie Henning.
At the age of nine she came to this country with her parents. They settled in Nebraska, and after some years moved to Clayton Center. She was married April 22, 1892 to Herman Heins. After their marriage, they farmed near Luana. In 1919 they retired to Elkader and in 1928 moved to Postville.
To this union was born four children, three of whom survive, Walter of Luana, Lietzie, Mrs. Henry Landt, of Postville, and Florence, Mrs. Joe Harnack, of Postville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Arnold, five sisters and three brothers.
She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Walter, Lietzie, Mrs. Henry Landt, and Florence, Mrs. Joe Harnack; three grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, in addition to many other relatives and friends.
She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Germany, and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Clayton Center.
