Funeral services for Walter Carl Heins, 74, were held Monday afternoon January 2, at 1:30 o'clock at St. Paul Lutheran church with Rev. Richard Housman officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 o'clock until the time of the services. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
Walter Heins was born December 25, 1892, in Monona township, the son of Herman and Matilda, nee Radloff, Heins. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran church in Luana and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the same church.
He was educated in the country school near his home. He was married to Esther Ruckdaschel, February 6, 1919. They farmed south of Luana where he lived at the time of his death. He died Thursday night, December 29, at his farm home because of a heart attack.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Arno; a daughter, Betty Jean; a son, Walter, Jr.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gertrude) Koopman of Farmersburg; four grandchildren, Mrs. Marlan (Karen) Squires of Fayette; Mrs. Lee Krambeer (Sharon) of Monona; Susan and Kim at home; two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Harnack and Mrs. Henry Landt of Postville.
