Mrs. John Erickson (Christena Anderson) was born in Sweden February 4th, 1851 and died at the home of her son, in Marion Township, March 20, 1928, after an illness of four weeks. She had been an invalid for about five years.
She was a daughter of Berg and Anna Anderson. At the age of one year she came to America with her parents. While she was quite young, her parents moved to Marion Township, and there she spent most of her life. After her marriage on January 26, 1870 to John Erickson of Marion township, they lived on a farm there. Later they moved to Elkader. Mr. Erickson died about eleven years ago.
Mrs. Erickson is survived by three sons, Edward of Amory, Wisconsin, Albert of Minneapolis and Ben of Marion township; one daughter, Mrs. Clara Leonard of Elkader. Seven children preceded her in death. A brother, C. S. Anderson of Wausa, Nebraska, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Paige of West Union, also survive her.
Funeral services were held at 10 A. M. March 27, 1928, at the Highland Lutheran Church, of which she was a member for many years. Rev. Gunsten of Clermont officiated, and burial was in the Highland cemetery.
