Funeral services for Gerhard Halverson were held Friday, May 14, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
Gerhard Selmer Halverson, son of Johan and Randi (Stenerson) Halverson, was born June 22, 1895 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He passed away May 11, 1982 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa.
He was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church. He attended Grand Meadow School No. 4, also known as the "Larabee" School.
On Sept. 7, 1931 he was united in marriage to Gladys Ostlie at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. To this union two sons were born. They farmed on the family farm until 1971 when they moved to the new home they built in Postville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Olena, and his son, Lynton Bruce.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys, of Postville, a son, Howard Gene and daughter-in-law, Evelyn, a grandson, Howard Gerhard and granddaughter, Karina, all of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, and a host of friends.
He was a life-long member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church.
