Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Ida (Nesteby) Jones were held Sunday, May 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Edwards, officiated. Burial was in the United Brethren Wagner Township Cemetery, St. Olaf, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pallbearers.
Ida Jones was born May 19, 1897 in Echo, Minnesota to Nels and Ingrid (Docken) Nesteby. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She received her education in Montevido, Minnesota. She married Harvey Jones on June 19, 1914. They had one son and one daughter. The couple lived in Postville, Iowa until 1937 when they moved to Waukon, Iowa until 1975. Ida remained in her home until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon in 1985. She died at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa *This paper did not give the day in May 1987 that she passed away. I checked the social security index and it did not list the day either. It was probably around May 14 or May 15.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Harvey Jones who died January 12, 1981; 4 brothers, Alfred Nesteby, Ted Nesteby, Albert Nesteby, and Carl Nesteby; and 2 sisters, Mabel and Alma.
Surviving is one son, Harley Jones and one daughter, Maxine Mueller, both of Farmersburg, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Karen, Ronald Mueller, and Warren Mueller and 5 great-grandchildren, Tony, Andy, and Jody Mueller, and Kristin and Jeffrey Carroll; 1 brother, Elmer of Lucan, Minnesota; and 3 sisters, Emma Olson in the state of Oregon, Mayme Emvertson of Billings, Montana, and Inga Baker of Waterloo, Iowa, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
