Lester John Doerring of Monona, Iowa died October 7, 1986 at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, Iowa. Services were Thursday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona with Rev. Harold Ward officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were James Doerring, Roland Doerring, Oliver Doerring, Robert Doerring, Eugene Doerring, Keith Mohs, Marvin Mohs, and Harold Quandahl. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.

Lester was born April 29, 1900 in Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa, the son of Charles and Louise (Schrader) Doerring. He was baptized June 24, 1900 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Farmersburg, Iowa by Pastor Fred Braum. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Luana, Iowa March 28, 1915 by Pastor Fred Westenberger. He received his education at Eno school.

On February 18, 1931 he was married to Alice Pruess at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa by Pastor William Kent. They had 1 son, Milo. They farmed near Luana, Iowa for 7 years then moved to a farm south of Luana, Iowa where their son Milo is now living. They retired from their farm and moved to Monona on October 18, 1960.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 3 brothers, Hubert, Arno, and Eddie Doerring and one sister, Esther Mohs.

Surviving is his wife, Alice; son, Milo Doerring of Luana, Iowa; granddaughters Rhonda of Elkader, Iowa and Sue Ellen of Luana, Iowa and grandsons, Scott Doerring and Mitchell Doerring, both of Monona, Iowa; 2 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Amanda Becker of Postville, Iowa.
