Funeral services for Elsie Tietz were held Monday, June 9, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lloyd Lenth, Robert Saacke, Donald Martins, Delbert Martins, Bernard Martins, and Melvin Radloff.

Elsie Wilhelmina Tietz, daughter of John and Mary (Klinkenberg) Martins, was born November 12, 1899 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died June 6, 1986 in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was baptized March 27, 1900 and confirmed April 5, 1914. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Elsie attended the rural school of Clayton County. On September 12, 1928 she was married to Walter Tietz at Luana, Iowa. They had one son. They farmed in the Luana, Iowa and Frankville, Iowa areas. In 1962 they moved to their present home in Frankville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Leske Martins and John Martins; and 2 sisters, Mary (Mrs. William Radloff) and Anna (Mrs. Gus Lenth).

Surviving are her husband, Walter Tietz; a son, Leonard Tietz and his wife Lavonne of Decorah, Iowa; 2 grandchildren Galen Tietz of Decorah, Iowa and Randy Tietz of St. Louis, Missouri; 1 brother, Gerwin Martins of Postville, Iowa and a sister, Effie (Mrs. Roy Saacke) of Farmersburg, Iowa.
