Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, 1987 at 11 a.m. for Henry Comnic, age 87, of Monona, Iowa who died Thursday, October 22, 1987 at Postville Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa. Pastor Harold O. Ward officiated at the services held at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. Burial was in the church cemetery with Schultz Funeral Home of Monona in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Clifford Gunderson, Roger Meyer, Darrell Greenwald, Rowland Jones, Harry Larson, Leland Parizek and Thomas Huinker. Honorary pallbearers Donald Tayek, Leonard Seitz, Clarence Thiesen, and Elvie Drahn.

Henry was born July 1, 1900 in Germany to David and Karoline (Jost) Comnic. He was educated in Germany. He was baptized July 2, 1900 and confirmed April 30, 1915 in the Lutheran faith. He came to the United States in September 1923 and settled in Westbrook, Minnesota. He became a United States citizen July 18, 1929 in Slayton, Minnesota. On February 24, 1942 he married Alice Meier at Salem Evangelical Church, Giard Township in Clayton County, Iowa. They farmed near Farmersburg, Iowa for two years before moving to a farm north of Monona, Iowa. In 1950 they bought a farm near Giard and remained there until 1976 when they retired and moved to Monona. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, and many relatives and friends.
