Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Orval M. Mueller died Tuesday December 23, 1986 at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, Iowa following a long illness. Services were held Friday, December 26 at St.John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa with Pastor Robert Edwards officiating. Burial was in Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery with Schultz Funeral Home of Monona in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Dale Tieskotter,L'Dean Tielbar, Carl Schmidt,Jr., Don Bossard, Scott Henkes, and Richard Streicher.
Orval was born October 8, 1919 to Marvin and Amanda (Kluth) Mueller in St. Olaf, Iowa. He attended Farmersburg schools and Elkader Community College. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. He married Maxine Jones on December 29, 1939 in Cresco, Iowa. During WWII he served in Italy. He was manager of Great Plains Supply Company in Farmersburg for 22 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg Fire Department, a 40 year member of the American Legion Post #388 in St. Olaf and mayor of Farmersburg for two terms.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; 2 sons, Ronald Mueller of Monona, Iowa and Warren Mueller of State Center, Iowa; a daughter, Karen Mueller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; a brother, Malloyd Mueller of Elkader, Iowa; and his mother-in-law, Ida Jones of Waukon, Iowa.
