Dugald Raymond Thompson, son of Laurence and Minnie (Frohwein) Thompson, was born August 31, 1905 in Clayton County, Iowa. He received his education in rural schools and the Monona High School. On September 30, 1930 he was married to Mary Helen Peters at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September of 1980. He farmed south of Monona all his life and for the past three years was a resident of the Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa.

He died Saturday, November 9, 1985 at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Monona, Iowa with Rev. John Moran and Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Pallbearers were nephews: Virgil Thompson, Richard Thompson, Richard Thompson, LeRoy Thompson, Gaylord Thompson, Clyde Thompson, and Harlan Hass. Burial was in the St. Patrick's Cemetery Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Archie Thompson.

Surviving is his wife, Mary, a resident at the Great River Care Center; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Margaret) Grove of Harpers Ferry, Iowa and a son Leo Thompson of Joliet, Illinois; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Hass and 3 brothers, Kenneth and Vernon Thompson of Monona, Iowa, and Dale Thompson of Farmersburg, Iowa.
