Helen Wilhelmine Johanna (Bentien) Rose was born October 31, 1903 in Monona, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest F. and Katherine (Lamker) Bentien. She died Wednesday, December 18, 1985 at the Hill View Care Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was 82 years of age.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa with Pastor Harold O. Ward officiating. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery with Schultz Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Mike Bentien, Kevin Bentien, Bill Christofferson, Tim Christofferson, Ted Funk, and Eldon Kurth.

Helen was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa and attended Monona schools. On September 22, 1926 she and Gilbert C. Rose were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, who died August 8, 1980, also at the Hill View Care Center, a sister Frances Stowater, and a brother Linford Bentien.
