Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26 for Harriett Marie Bacon, age 75, who died Sunday May 24, 1987 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The Rev. Harold Ward officiated at the services held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa with burial in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were her grandchildren.

Harriett was born January 31, 1912 in Clayton County, Iowa to William and Rose (Holly) Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and graduated from the Monona High School in 1929. On March 5, 1930 she married Lloyd Bacon. They farmed in rural Allamakee County until 1947 when they moved to Monona, Iowa. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's church, ALCW, and Canasta club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. William (Minerva) Bacon.

Surviving are her husband, Lloyd; 5 sons, William of Elgin, Iowa, Allan and Ralph of Postville, Iowa, Donald (Pete) and Richard of Monona, Iowa; a daughter, Shirley Drake of Omaha, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gladys Bruehahn of Monona, Iowa and Vivian Scheffert of Luana, Iowa; and a brother Harold Schroeder of Luana, Iowa.
