Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 13, 1986 at 11 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa for Lulu Minnie Schlitter who died on August 11, 1986 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiated. Pallbearers were Valdean Palas, Veryl Kelley, Robert Schlitter, Fred Schlitter, Harvey Schlitter, and Elmer Schlitter. Burial was at the Monona City Cemetery in Monona, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lulu Minnie Schlitter was born January 8, 1893 at Watson, Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Genz) Hensel. She was baptized March 31, 1893. Lulu received her education at the Schmitt School, Giard Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church, which she attended regularly until her health failed. For many years she also taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women. On February 18, 1915 she was united in marriage to Emil Schlitter at her parent's home. To this union two children were born. Lulu and Emil farmed in the Monona area. On June 28, 1965 Emil passed away. In February of 1967 she moved to Monona with her children, where she lived until her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Emil, three brothers, Arthur Hensel, Dewey Hensel, and William Hensel, three sisters, Mrs. William (Laura) Schlitter, Mrs. Ernst (Mayme) Fett, and Mrs. Leonard (Grace) Wagner.

Surviving is her son David Schlitter and daughter Marjorie Schlitter, both of Monona,, Iowa; her sister, Lillian Hensel of Waukon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
