Dewey Hensel Funeral Held
Funeral services for Dewey Hensel, 66, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., were held Monday afternoon, July 26, at 2 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral home in Monona with Rev. Bud C. Wilder of Prairie du Chien officiating.
Burial was in the Council Hill cemetery.
Dewey Herman Hensel was born a son of Herman and Emma, nee Genz, Hensel, March 17, 1899, at Watson, Iowa. He died at his cottage in Prairie du Chien, Friday night, July 23, from a cerebral Hemorrhage.
He was baptized by Rev. William Pfefferkorn, Jan. 21, 1900. As a youth he attended the Evangelical church at Watson. He received his education in the rural school of his home community.
He had worked as a farm and sawmill laborer in the Monona and Prairie du Chien vicinities all his life. For the last six years, he had been employed at Fuller Lumber and Logging company in Prairie du Chien.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, William. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. William (Laura) Schlitter, Mrs. Emil (Lulu) Schlitter, and Mrs. Ernest (Mayme) Fett of Monona, Mrs. Leonard (Grace) Wagner of Ossian, and Miss Lillian Hensel of Waukon; and one brother, Arthur, of Monona.
Pallbearers were Harvey, Robert, David, and Herbert Schlitter, Verlyn Stovey, Cliff Pitzer, Joseph Keppler, and Donald Levenhagen.
