Funeral services were held Friday, August 12 at 1 p.m. from the chapel at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa for Jessie M. Hoover, age 80, who died at her Parkview Trailer Court home in Waukon, Iowa on Wednesday, August 10, 1988. The Rev. Dean Shelly and Harry and Teresa Kruger officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein, Iowa.

Jessie was born September 6, 1907 in Elkader, Iowa, a daughter of Warren Samuel and Augusta (Alitz) Boots. She married David E. Hoover December 8, 1928 in Manchester, Iowa. He was an Allamakee County, Iowa engineer. They have lived in Waukon, Iowa since 1958. Before that they lived in Elkader,Iowa, Garnavillo, Iowa, and Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Elkader.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond, Samuel, Ira, and Clarence Boots and her sisters, Blanche, Bessie, Marie, and Effie Boots.

She is survived by her husband, David Hoover, son William R. Hoover of Muscatine, Iowa and a daughter, Ann Schnormeier of Gambier, Ohio; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
