Henrietta Deal

Funeral services for Henrietta Sophia Deal were held Saturday, May 23, 1987, 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Pastor Robert Edwards officiated. Burial was in Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.

Etta died at Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, May 20. She had been a resident there since April 16, 1985.

Henrietta Sophia Deal was born January 18, 1893 to Frederick and Henrietta Blietz Kruse, in Elkport, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in 1907 by Rev. Wm. Paulson in Luana. She received her education in the Luana School.

She married Herbert Henry Deal at St. Paul Lutheran Parsonage, Postville, Jan. 26, 1916. They had 1 son and 2 daughters. The couple farmed in the Farmersburg area until 1937. They retired in Farmersburg. She remained in her home until moving to Cedar Rapids to live with her daughter 17 years ago.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Herbert, who died December 21, 1957; a son, Delbert, October 12, 1939; and a daughter, Delpha Radloff, August 19, 1967; 4 brothers, Fred, Henry, William and George and 2 sisters, Mabel Rekow and Alice Nuehring.

Surviving are a son, Arno Kruse, Farmersburg; a daughter, Dana Huckstadt, Cedar Rapids; 7 grandchildren, Sandra Dahms, Dianne Huckstadt, Gary Huckstadt, Neil Huckstadt, Loren Radloff, Charles Radloff and Sandra Roeder; and 11 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Elmer Radloff, Lynwood Dahms, Gary Huckstadt, Neil Huckstadt, Loren Radloff and Charles Radloff.
