Services Held For Henry Duwe
Funeral services for Henry L. Duwe were held Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1983 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana. The Rev. Ted Ager officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
Henry Louis Duwe, son of John and Wilhelmina (Block) Duwe, was born October 26, 1902 at Hardin, Iowa. He passed away February 6, 1983 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.
On Mar. 26, 1954 he was married to Evelyn Mae Goeke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Two children were born to this union.
From 1954 to 1956 they lived in Postville. He was employed at the Postville Locker for a time, and in 1956 they moved to Luana where he was employed as a part-time service attendant as Schave's Garage.
He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, John, Albert, Fred, Hugo, Alvin and Ed.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Daryl Duwe of Waverly, a daughter, Mary L. Duwe of DeSoto, WI, seven step-children, Richard Goeke of Masonville, Harold Goeke of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Richard (Alice) Osterhus of Clermont, Joyce Spilde of Cresco, Lee Goeke of Lansing, Dale Goeke of Waverly and Richard Hook of Fort Wayne, IN, three sisters, Amanda Titus and Iona Freeburg, both of Waterloo, and Mrs. Leonard (Ruth) Geno of Prairie du Chien, WI.
