LeRoy Joseph Otto Duwe

Funeral services for LeRoy J. Duwe were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

LeRoy Joseph Otto Duwe, son of Roy G. and Leola (Meyer) Duwe, was born Aug. 8, 1931 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He passed away Aug. 23, 1982 while at work as groundskeeper at the Tri-City Golf Club.

He was baptized Sept. 20, 1931 and confirmed March 25, 1945, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 1949 he graduated from Postville High School. On February 26, 1951 he was married to Dorothy Heins. To this union four children were born.

They farmed for 30 years in the Postville area. For the last two years he had been groundskeeper for the Tri-City Golf Club near Luana. They had moved to their house on Grandview Drive in December 1981.

LeRoy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had served on the Church Council for four years. He had been a past member and president of the Postville school board.

He is preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, a son, Joe of Postville, three daughters, Barb of Elkader, Mrs. Dennis (Sandy) Koenig and Mrs. Stuart (Cindy) Schultz, both of Postville, four grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Leola Duwe of Postville, and a sister, Mrs. Carlyle (Inez) Kirkeberg of Monona.
