Elizabeth E. Doerring

Funeral services for Elizabeth E. Doerring, 68, were held Wednesday, Dec. 5, 1984 at 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana. The Rev. Ted Ager officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge.

Elizabeth Emma Doerring was born June 24, 1916, the daughter of Herman and Blanche (Pritchett) Blume at Clayton. She was baptized August 30, 1925 by Rev. G. J. Zeilinger and January 28, 1940 she was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana by Rev. Paul W. Adix.

She received her education in the schools of Clayton, Garnavillo and LeRoy, MN. She was a member of St. John, Luana and belonged to the ALCW. June 9, 1936 she was united in marriage to Hubert Doerring at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. To this union two daughters were born.

She and Hubert farmed until their retirement to Luana in 1955. She retired as a cook for the MFL School at Luana and had at one time also cooked for Baade's Restaurant. In 1983 she moved to Monona. She died Monday, Dec. 3 at Central Community Hospital, Elkader after a short illness.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Hubert, who died Jan. 27, 1964, her parents, two sisters, Agnes Troester, Lena Kamp, a brother Helmuth.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Shirley) Whittle, Luana, Mrs. Wayne (Linda Lou) Lestina, Monona, two granddaughter, Marsha and Sheryl Lestina, a brother, Herman Blume of Hot Springs, AR, a sister Mrs. Dick (Mazine) Kuiper, Toledo, OH.
