Services Held For Mrs. Harold Doerring
Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. October 9 at the East Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont for Mrs. Harold Doerring who died October 6 at University Hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Clarence Johnson officiated.
Elvera Mae Jensen was born May 27, 1934, at Guymon, Oklahoma, the daughter of E. T. and Hannah (Sagen) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Oslo Lutheran Church, rural Gruver, Texas.
She was educated in the rural schools of Gruver, Texas, high school at Guymon, Oklahoma, attended Waldorf Junior College, Forest City, Iowa and graduated from Luther College, Decorah. She was a music instructor in the Luana Consolidated School, giving private music lessons after her marriage.
She was united in marriage August 26, 1956 to Harold Doerring at Luther Valley Lutheran Church, Beloit, Wisconsin. To this union five children were born, Julia, Andrew, Angela, Peter and Martin. The family resided on farms at Luana from August, 1956 until April 1967 when they moved to Elgin.
Mrs. Doerring was preceded in death by her mother, several aunts and uncles. Surviving are her husband, her five children, her father, E. T. Jensen of Elgin and several uncles and aunts. Burial was in the Luana Lutheran Cemetery.
