Lorenz Doerring

Funeral services for Lorenz Doerring were held Friday, May 16, 1986 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana with Pastor Ted Ager officiating. Pallbearers were Lorenz's grandchildren and nephews. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Luana. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Lorenz August Doerring was born August 5, 1900 at Luana, son of William and Fredericka (Garms) Doerring. He was baptized Sept. 30, 1900 by Pastor Bockelmin at St. Paul's Lutheran in Postville. He was confirmed in 1914 by Pastor Westenburger at St. John's in Luana.

Lorenz attended rural schools completing 8 grades. On Dec. 26, 1923 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Carolyn Palas at St. John's in Luana. To this union eight children were born. The couple farmed near Luana. Lorenz was an active fireman in Luana for 25 years. The couple retired to their present home in Luana. Lorenz died May 13, 1986 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Jeanette; 4 brothers, Orville, Rev. Elmer, William and Alvin; and four grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Beatrice; sons Frederick (Lillian) Doerring from Des Moines, Iowa; Harold of Luana, and David (Eileen) Doerring of Kirkville, Washington; four daughters: Ellenore Doerring of Luana, Mrs. Elaine (Albert) Scott of Corning, Iowa, Mrs. Jacquelyn (Donald) Sparrow of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. Lillian (Robert) Miller of Manchester, Michigan; 23 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, John Doerring of Luana.
