Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Arno William Doerring, who died at his home in Postville, Friday, November 25. The Rev. Norris Swenson and Rev. David Nelson officiated.
Born in Clayton County, Iowa, January 7, 1896, he was the son of Charles and Louise Schrader Doerring. December 8, 1920, he was united in marriage to Bernadine Brandtman. Together they farmed near Luana, raising their six children. They retired in 1961 and moved to Postville. Bernadine died in April of 1971.
June 17, 1975, he was united in marriage to Reva Steiber and continued to live in Postville.
Arno was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U. S. Army in Europe. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Baptized by Pastor F. W. Seifert February 14, 1896, he was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert and a sister, Esther.
Survivors include his wife, Reva; three sons, James, Postville; Oliver, Luana and Roland, Garnavillo; three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Maxine) Morch, Mrs. Myrl (Eunice) Dickman, both of Postville; Mrs. Dwayne (Inez) Moon, Luana; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Amanda Becker, Postville; two brothers, Ed and Lester, Monona and five step-children.
Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
