Hubert Doerring Dies Suddenly

Funeral services for Hubert A. Doerring, 66, were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30, at 1:30 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church in Luana with Rev. Luther A. Meyer officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 until the time of the services. Burial was in St. John Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Doerring died suddenly Monday morning, Jan. 27, in his home of a heart attack.

He was born a son of Charles and Louisa, nee Schrader, Doerring near Luana, Dec. 9, 1897. He was baptized March 8, 1898, at the Clayton Center Lutheran church by Rev. F. W. Seifert.

He received his education in the Eno school, Wagner township. He was confirmed at St. John Lutheran church in Luana, March 31, 1912, by Rev. William Paulsen.

He was married to Leona Handke, Jan. 25, 1928, at St. Peter's Lutheran church, the old rock church at Ceres. She died the next year, Jan. 13, 1929, in childbirth.

He was married to Elizabeth Blume, June 9, 1936, in the Little Brown church at Nashua. They farmed near Luana until retiring to town in 1955.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife and infant.

In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Shirley) Whittle of Luana and Mrs. Wayne (Linda Lou) Lestina of Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Becker of Postville and Mrs. Elmer Mohs of Luana; and three brothers, Arno of Postville and Edward and Lester of Monona; and one grandchild, Marsha Lestina.

Music at the services was provided by the senior choir of St. John Lutheran church. The congregation also sang a song. Helmuth Landt was the organist.

Wives of the pallbearers were flower girls.

Pallbearers were Oliver, Roland, James, Robert, Eugene, and Milo Doerring, and Keith and Marvin Mohs.
