Funeral Services Held For Mrs. John Dyke
Funeral services were conducted last Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Monona for Mrs. John Dyke, 63, who passed away while on a trip to California on January 17. The rites were in charge of Rev. Donald R. Corrick, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the city cemetery, Monona.
Anna Belle Downing was born February 28, 1888, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Downing of Monona Township. She became ill when on a trip with her husband to California, and passed away at Lawndale, California on January 17, 1952, at the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 17 days.
On February 28, 1906, she was united in marriage to John Dyke at Monona. To this union seven children were born. Mrs. Dyke was a faithful, kind, loving wife and mother, always cheerful and willing to help others.
Survivors include her husband, three daughters, Alice (Mrs. Jerry Kriz) of Chicago; Sophia (Mrs. John R. Smith) of Waterville; and Ila Mae (Mrs. Lloyd Brandt) of Postville; four sons, Melvin at home, Dayton of McGregor, Lenton of West Union, and Kyle of Waterville; five brothers, Fred of Orient, South Dakota, Frank of Madison, Wisconsin, Art of Oelwein, Vern of Waukon and Dewey of Underwood, Minnesota. There are 13 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two sisters and two brothers.
