Irene Ann Drahn

Irene Ann Drahn, daughter of John and Matilda (Papacek) Williamson, was born December 1, 1907 at St. Paul, Minn. She died Sunday, June 9, 1996 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was baptized January, 1908, at St. Paul, Minn. and confirmed December 26, 1926 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. She received her education at McGregor.

Irene was united in marriage to Glender A. Drahn on January 24, 1926. She was a housewife. She worked as a beautician and was employed in the produce department at Wilkes Grocery Store, Monona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glender, who died April 11, 1983; and three sisters, Karen Williamson, Ellen Bloedorn, and Marjorie Sweeney.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Glenn J. (Elaine) Drahn of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and Don L. (Sharon) Drahn of Monona, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Deborah Drahn of Kalona, Iowa, Rebecca (Richard) Martin of Washington, Iowa, Mark (Gay) Drahn of Belle Plaine, Derek (Terri) Drahn of Cedar Rapids, David (Audra) Drahn of Lake in the Hills, Ill., Jeffrey Drahn of Portland, Ore., Denise (Craig) Adam of Monona, Chad Drahn of Monona; 15 great-grandchildren, Janelle, Kjersten, Ashley and Megan Drahn, Hollie and Nicolas Martin, Shana, Taylor and Kylie Drahn, Brenden, McKenzie and Natalia Drahn, Adrian and Jenna Adam, and Daynan Drahn; four sisters-in-law, Sophia Lange, Aloha Drahn, Emma Drahn and Myrtle Drahn; one brother-in-law, Lloyd (Marge) Drahn of Monona, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 12, 1996 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. Rev. Terry Hudson officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Lanny Scheffert, Deborah Drahn, B ill Possehl, Rebecca Martin, Denise Adam, Ivan Melcher, Lloyd Drahn, and Chuck Bockelman. Active pallbearers were Mark Drahn, Richard Martin, Derek Drahn, David Drahn, Jeffrey Drahn, Chad Drahn and Craig Adam. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services. Burial was in ST. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
