Myron Russell horns of Monona,Iowa died December 3, 1989 at Prairie du Chien, WS Memorial Hospital as a result of a hunting accident near Monona. Services were held December 6, 1989 at the Garden City United Methodist Church with burial in the Monona City Cemetery. Rev. Gary Dobbins conducted the services. Ric Benzing was organist and a duet was sung by Dixie Kutzbach and Carol Gerdes. The Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Travis Johanningmeier, Ron Palmer, Don Palmer, Wes Heying, Pat Eilers, Russ Bernhard, Denny Burton, and Alan Berns.

Myron was born August 4, 1959 to Irving and Barbara (Palmer) Horns. He was baptized September 27, 1959 and confirmed April 7, 1974 at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. He received his education in the Monona-Farmersburg-Luana MFL school system. He worked as a machinists welder for Gencor Bituma Store in Marquette, Iowa. He was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and Youth Director of the U.M.Y.F.

He married Melon Sue Christofferson on July 16, 1977 at the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. They were the parents of two sons. They made their home in Monona.

He is survived by his wife, Melon; two sons, Matthew and Michael; his parents, Irving and Barbara Horns, Decorah, Iowa; 6 brothers, Sidney, of Monona, Larry of Fountain, CO, Neal of Waukon, Martin of Jacksonville, FL, Jeffrey and Dwight, both of Decorah, Iowa; 5 sisters, Kathleen Jacobson, Marseilles, IL, Audrey Emerson, Port Washington, WI, Susanna Sisk, Charlotte, NC, Sandra Evanson, Monona, and Dawn Horns, Decorah; grandparents Herb Horns, Monona, and Glenn and Ethel Palmer, Prairie du Chien, WS.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Hedwig Horns.

DEER HUNTER KILLED

Myron Horns, 30, of Monona, was killed Sunday afternoon in heavy timber 7 miles east of Monona. He was shot by a member of his hunting party who fired at a deer, not knowing Horns had gone on behind the deer, reported the Clayton County Sheriff's office. The accident was reported at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.

A 12 gauge slug entered the victim near his left collarbone. The Monona Ambulance Service took him to Prairie du Chien Memorial hospital, where he died shortly after his arrival.
