Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 31 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, for Helen Barbara Marie Dickman who died Thursday, Oct. 27 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. The Rev. Harold Ward conducted the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in Monona City Cemetery with Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, in charge of arrangements.
She was born Sept. 17, 1902 in Elkader to John and Lenora (Hagensick) Kurdelmeyer. She received her education in Monona Public School and attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls. She worked at Northeast Iowa Memorial Co. for 5 years.
Jan. 15, 1931 she married Arno Dickman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They farmed northeast of Monona for 15 years. In 1946 they retired in Monona. He died July 19, 1948. She worked in the MFL hot lunch program for 17 years and retired in 1970. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran and Peace Circle.
Surviving are 4 daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Marilyn) Pape, Luana, Mrs. Jim (Diane) Christenson, Monona, Mrs. Jerry (Karon) Dahlberg, Forest Lake, MN and Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Johnson of Star Prairie, WI; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a sister, Lorene Heins, Monona.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant son, Duane, and infant granddaughter, Susan Pape.
Casket bearers were Steve Pape, Dan Pape, Robert Wirkler, John Wagner, Todd Johnson, Tim Johnson and Patrick Dahlberg.
